If I Were Her

If I Were Her.

Verse 1:

Night and Day goes by

At times I seem to cry

Over your face

In memories that have lost their place

Your smile warms my heart with a fire I cannot quench

Your eyes awaken my senses as does the morning light

As you seem to stare

I feel myself unprepared

Then something seemed to change

Something that was never arranged

Your gaze leaves mine

As you see her

I can’t say he shouldn’t love her; why shouldn’t he?

Her smile makes the stars in heaven appear dull

She’s a darling and her heart’s made of gold

With a voice that’s powerful and bold

Chorus:

If I were her

I would have you

If I were her

You would love me as I always wanted you to

But all I am is me

That is all I will ever be

If I were her

You would love me

Verse 2:

Should I even try to fight it?

What will be will be.

She is a kind hearted person

How can I say it’s not meant to be

But still, my heart is breaking

I feel my spirit aching

The tears that fall do burn

Like water that flooded from hell

Why should I try to yell?

The pain will find a way to subside

If he were here at my side….

Chorus:

If I were her

I would have you

If I were her

You would love me as I always wanted you to

But all I am is me

That is all I will ever be

If I were her

You would love me

Verse 3:

Ten years from now

On his wedding day

I will sit in the crowd

And watch him give his vows

To a woman who is worthy

Of his love and smile

And I stand here

With a wondering glance

Why was I never given a chance?

What did I have to do?

Chorus:

If I were her

I would have you

If I were her

You would love me as I always wanted you to

But all I am is me

That is all I will ever be

If I were her

You would love me

Love me.
